A key achievement was the creation of Chicago’s first SMS Community Hotline . Youth participants in their Summer program used TextIt to create the hotline, which allowed them to emphasize the importance of designing technologies that meet real community needs. 📱💬
FlowAmigo builds on this same goal by ensuring that the Community Hotline remains culturally relevant and accessible, particularly in underserved areas where internet access is limited. 🌍🌐 Using TextIt's flow builder, FlowAmigo enables seamless communication through SMS, allowing community members to stay connected, share concerns, and engage in outreach, even without reliable internet access. 📲🤝
In collaboration with The Novel Network, FlowAmigo offers a no-code platform that simplifies communication and helps changemakers build and scale digital care ecosystems. Students in the Summer program used TextIt’s platform to develop “Community Hubs.” These are interactive flows designed to deliver updates and key information from their partner community organizations. After a partner organization agrees to FlowAmigo’s Responsible Communication Covenant, they set up a flow that users can easily navigate. This flow is triggered by a specific keyword assigned to the organization and provides access to essential details like contact info, a description of the organization and its services, helpful links, and more—all in one place.
